Emirates Desert Championship Round Three

Trutch retains lead in Buggy Class.
Dubai, UAE, 26 January 2017: After Round Three of the Emirates Desert Championship last Friday (20 January 2017), Ryan Trutch of Dubai Autodrome managed to hold on to his championship lead in Buggy Class.
Organised by the Automobile & Touring Club of the UAE (ATCUAE) and Emirates Motor Sport Federation (EMSF), the event was held in Al Faqa’a, on the Dubai/Al Ain road. Again the two hour event attracted a large number (65) of motocross riders, ten buggies and a handful of rally cars. The bikes competed on a course 25 kilometres long, whereas the four wheel vehicles competed on a separate 20 kilometre course.
In the Buggy Class, Dubai Autodrome’s Ryan Trutch and MXDubai team mate Stefan Cudby started in the second wave and fourth wave respectively, with the experienced Emirati Polaris Racing Team drivers Ahmed Al Maqoodi and Ahmed Al Fahim beating Trutch to the top two steps of the podium by a lead of several minutes.
Trutch’s third place finish means he retains his lead in the overall championship by just eight points lead over Ahmed Al Maqoodi.
The day was not as kind on team mate Cudby, who suffered yet another a broken drive belt, which cost him ten minutes on lap four, resulting in him being overhauled by most of the field and finishing down in ninth place. A bit of repair work will be required for the upcoming round.
Trutch commented afterwards, “I need to find some pace to beat the Polaris Drivers in the last two rounds but now I also have to contend with finding a new chassis within the limited time before the next race. I need a lot of good luck!”
For the Moto class the overall top finishers were Joshua Brodalka, Mohammed Jaffar and Mohammed Al Balooshi. In the Auto class the overall winners were Mark Powell, Khalid Al Jafla and Vadym Prytuliak.
The next round of the Emirates Desert Championship will be held on Friday, 3 February 2017.
